remember RO? he put up videoblogging-universe.com and a few cool features for vloggers.
this is spidering and re-hosting 'previews' transcoded to flv or swf or mp4 (depends).
this is also how it is done right!
but how does this play into the part of the debate that no service should be re-hosting and transcoding without opt-in?
everyone loves vb-universe, right?
other have made the biggest issue to be about spidering feeds.
but mefeedia spiders feeds.
everyone loves mefeedia, right?
both provide attribution by linking back to the vlog permalinks which is why they are acceptable and respected.
anyway..... the debates here are swirly. so, i am just trying to put things in perspective.
Josh Leo also once made mention of a service that annoyed him because they had his feed in their database.
http://www.loomia.com/media/feed?cp=/792394
But they give proper attribution..... so that's alright. But Josh didnt add it.... it was either spidered or somone else added it.
So then you need to claim it or request to remove it etc... That can be annoying (which is why vlogdir doesnt work that way).
But let's also remember the importance of spreading the media. Let's also remember how vlogging can be something more important that your freakn stats and subscriber count. Let's also remember how the creations you put out there can inspire others to do the same.
Let's not get too hung up on self-branding and all that jazz.
done.

Well...I dont really see what they did as a problem. I am pretty sure
that their spidering or non-spidering does exactly what it was
intended to do and is working quite well. I dont see it as a renegade
process that's gone HAL on everyone. That's another discussion though.
Thanks for your response.
