I'll answer the other question. Viewers have all kinds of computers, old, new and bleeding edge. We also now have a generation of people viewing on media player devices that will accept one particular format, IPod = MP4 Zune = WVM.
Mac Folk can't view WMV's without a third party application like Flip4Mac. PC folks can download the free QT player but you might not be able to do that at work or your old pokey at home doesn't have the CPU/Graphic Card needed to run the current version. Flash is a "universal format" but the user has to make sure that they have upgraded to the current version to see the current generation of flash videos in the FLV format. If they have an older system, a prior version of Flash, or are not tech savvy they can't or won't do this. Some vloggers make the decision to just present in one format. Others want to make sure that anyone that comes to the vlog has an opportunity to see the videos in the format their system can accept. I generally upload a .wmv and .mov versions. I was also doing .mp4 but I had problems with folks not being able to see the videos, they saw garbage text instead. This was when .mp4 came out and I'm sure the problem has been solved. I'm just too busy to always remember to encoded in the format. There are also bandwidth/accessibility issues to consider. Why wouldn't you just rely on > Flash? I thought that 98% of people had flash installed? > > Thanks for the help, > Tobey >
