The mistake is in thinking that networked media is about content (scripted or not, personal or show, etc.)
It's about the dissapearance of media gatekeepers. About not having to go through ABC/NBC/CBS/etc. or Paramount/United Artists/Universal/etc to get a deal or not. That one can produce videos for a fan of 10-50 that is only for one's friends and family (KityKity, Mom's Brag Blog, etc.) Or a show for thousands (Ask A Ninja, Goodbye Burbank, Galacticast, The Show With Zefrank, etc.) that puts one in a position to negotiate their own contract or finance independently (Galacticast Sponsorship.) It's about the freedom to produce media without approval. The irony is that people who say the content should be personal, non-scripted, etc. are attempting to act as gate keepers -- requiring approval of their standards. And thus are old media. - Enric -=====- http://www.cirne.com --- In [email protected], Aldon Hynes <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I want to thank people how responded to my comments about 'Hope is > Presidential'. > > Matthew Bernius, who is a Visiting Professor at Rochester Insitute of > Technology and a 'New Media Researcher' had an interesting response. > > http://www.waking-dream.com/blog/?p=117 > online discussion of my youtube/political posts, online fieldwork > implications, and other sundry things > > in which he says: > > >>> > Aldon mentions Ask a Ninja, Hope is Emo, and Lonelygirl15 as YouTube > exemplars.
