Sounds great in therory but I wonder if it could work, the amount of time and energy to put on 1 con at one location, trying to put on multiple cons and coordinate everything?!.....
Part of the appeal, at least to me, is getting together with a lot of different people, you lose that with multiple events, people from the coasts arn't going to come to Chicago(just throwing a city out there) or travel to Europe. So instead of bringing people together you fragment them..... Now I know the "theory" is that with video blogging we don't need to "physicaly" be there. And that is true to an extent. But nothing and I mean nothing can replace the face to face opportunity to meet people, to talk with them and have a real conversation in real time, to make eye contact, etc.....otherwise we would not feel the need to gather. I mean think about it, why do people with laptops gather at coffee shops to work or relax? Why do you have centers where kids play online games? Because at the end of the day we want and need other people around us (most of us anyway)...... Just my thoughts..
