The reason I think it's important to know, is that if it's for "stupid money", I would have cut ties too. It's one thing to send them an invoice for a couple hundred bucks and yet another to send them one for $38gabillion. I assume it was for a reasonable amount, but it helps make a level headed decision on what the outcome should be.
