It's waaaay too early on a workday to get stoned, Rupert. Even though I live in San Francisco, I'll still get in trouble:) Personally, I don't keep up with festivals much anymore because I don't care. Videoblogging early on was a scream AGAINST the festival system, where you spend a lot of money/make a film/have it die in the festival circuit. Since then, for the most part, I've walked away from them.
Though I havent totally left them completely, they definitely have gotten a lower slot on my list of priorities. Instead, I get the word out on my work by creating programs and interacting with various communities. Seems to make me feel good enough in a like-minded way. In fact, here in SF, I am helping to tie online video works into a category in one of our major international flim fests.
