I dont know what model you have, but my macbook has Firewire. But its a Firewire 400.... NOT 800. This just means I had to buy a different cable to get media from my hard drive. I also learned that my two USB2 ports can now transfer media as fast as the Firewire...and many hard drives now use USB2 transfer. So you're good. Just got to figure out a new workflow.
