Somebody else will have more details, but I don't think you'll be able to edit AVCHD video on FCX 3 - so that rules out most tapeless HD cameras - and if you're on 10.4 then you're presumably on an older computer which might struggle with editing HD anyway. So at least this narrows down your options to tapeless SD/DV cameras. I don't know any that will record FCP/FCX-friendly DV onto a memory card or hard drive - so unless someone else here knows, you'll have to ask Mr Google. Since you'll probably have to transcode all files that are recorded on a tapeless camera into a FCX-friendly format, it might be worth considering abandoning the tapeless dream and going with a good quality Mini DV tape camera. You can get a good quality DV tape camera with mic in for $1200.
