Not sure what topic you want to publish, but Ive often wondered why people still publish paper books for technical topics. Think of all the technical books that must get thrown away because they go out of date so quickly. I know first hand since the videoblogging book I co-wrote was going out-of-date during the 6 months from writing to publishing. I assume with Lulu et al you can update the downloadable PDF. If I was to ever write a technical book again, I'd do it all online, wikistyle. This way you could update it as needed...have clickable links...and add whatever rich media is needed to make a point.
