PAL usually plays on a computer DVD drive, so if it is Region 0 it will be OK for some uses (no need to change region or make any adjustments). It will not play on a normal DVD-TV setup in the US. You need a special player plus a converter (or special player + special TV). I THINK that if you have the special player and a projector it will come out OK, that is, the projector automatically does the conversion.

We buy Region 1 and NTSC only, no PAL. I'd also guess that PAL would be a no-go for virtually all public libraries in the US. Anyone else on the public library side have a different take? Probably depends on the institution. I think most higher ed shops that support video collections of any size probably buy all regions. My guess is that public libraries and smaller schools do not. gary handman > General question: does a DVD in PAL Region 0 represent an obstacle to > purchasing?
