A code-free (region-free) DVD player does the conversion to NTSC...the
projector doesn't do anything except project the converted signal...
>>>
No, some higher end LCD projectors make a further adustment
according to the type of video signal. I sometimes have to correct our
projector when it has changed to a PAL setting by itself, even tho the
signal is NTSC.
The distance between the player and the projector can be a factor
in causing this error (especially if it's ceiling-mounted projector and
therefore guaranteed to be quite far from the player, leading to a
partially scrambled signal).

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
