Nan Rubin * * * * Position Open: Curator, Council on Foundations Film & Video Festival The Council on Foundations, in partnership with Grantmakers in Film + Electronic Media, holds an annual Film & Video Festival. The festival showcases dramatic narrative and nonfiction films, videos, and television programs that have received support from foundations, corporate giving programs and donor networks with the aim of encouraging grantmakers to use media to advance their philanthropic goals. The festival promotes foundation support of creative, high-quality productions that expand the boundaries of the use of media for the social good. Approximately 12 films are selected to be in the Festival and of those, 2 films are presented with the Henry Hampton Award for Excellence in Film & Digital Media. Named in honor of a man who broke traditional molds of documentary filmmaking & put excellence and innovation at the forefront of his work, Henry Hampton Award winners exemplify the very best in foundation-funded media. You can view the list of films selected for this year's festival and download the catalogue copy at this link: http://www.gfem.org/node/828 The role of the curator is to help with the solicitation of films and videos, review the submissions, provide a subgroup of selections for review by the Film & Video Festival Selection Committee, and to write copy on each of the films for the catalogue that accompanies the festival. Terms and Status: The appointment for this position is for two years with the opportunity to be considered for additional but not necessarily consecutive terms. The Film & Video Festival Curator position is a part-time, flat fee-based consultant position ($7,500) and reports to the Council on Foundations Director of Awards Programs. The position is not limited to any geographic location.
