If you're interested in black independent film, you may also be interested in Black Dynamite (2009). The student film group I advise played this film on a recent Saturday night in Lumina Theater. The students found out that director Scott Sanders was appearing at the North Carolina Black Film Festival just a couple of days before their showing in Lumina Theater, so they made a special trip to talk to him. Not only was he quite gracious to my students at the event, but he also agreed to come to UNCW for free to host a Q and A with the audience after we showed Black Dynamite (since he had planned to be in our town for a few more days). The audience loved the film and the students were thrilled to get such support from an independent film director! Sandra F.
