We invite you to attend the second meeting of the Multimedia Production
Discussion Group, sponsored by the ALA Video Round Table. The MPDG is a newly
formed "virtual" discussion group that intends to provide a forum for the
exchange of ideas and discussion on the operation, design, management or
development of the computers, software, and equipment needed for multimedia
production.

When: Wed, May 19, 2010, 3:30-4:30 ET (2:30-3:30 CT; 1:30-2:30 MT; 12:30-1:30
PT)

Discussion topic: What are the core skills necessary for supporting multimedia
(or beginning to support) the technical aspects of multimedia production? This
would cover training and professional development at all levels. Co-Chair
Shelly McCoy will share a number of different formats of trainings that she has
tried and also websites that she frequently uses.

How to participate: Please send an RSVP to Justin Wadland at
[email protected] by Tues, 5/18. We will be holding the meeting in
Skype, so you'll need to have this software installed on your computer, as well
as a microphone and headset. You don't have to be VRT member to participate,
but because we are using Skype, we do have limited number of slots. (Note:
This will be our last meeting in Skype, and we will be exploring other venues
for online meetings in the future.)

If you're not able to attend the meeting, we will provide other opportunities
for online discussion. Please email one of the co-chairs
Shelly McCoy ([email protected]) or Justin Wadland ([email protected])
for more information.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
