Hello List Subscribers:
Our "Accessibility Director" of our community college has asked me to look into providing subtitles for three videos that we have in our collection. One of the videos (vhs) already has captions and there is a newer DVD version with captions in the marketplace that I will purchase. That is the easy part. For the other two videos, I have not been able to find captioned versions in the marketplace. However, I have been in contact with a local video production house that will, in conjunction with another firm, caption the videos if we provide a transcript. But, they won't touch the project without permission from the owners of the videos to duplicate and modify the original (provide captioning). At this point, I need some help. How can I find the owner's of the following 2 video titles in order to ask permission? Do any of you know who the owner/ permission holders are of the following specific titles? Names/addresses/telephone numbers are good. Here's the two titles: 1. Love Hurts: The Science of Heartbreak 2. Fragments of Genius: Understanding Savants Any help or ideas is well appreciated. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
