Hello everyone, I am curious, and eager to find a new way to manage my ordering records....
I assume by now we all order via an online system - we use Innovative. We enter our media order record, note receipt, etc. in this system. In the past, we had an Acquisitions Librarian who purged the database every year, so we Kept a paper trail also - it would come in handy if I ever needed to replace an item, or look back for whatever reason. I'm curious - how does this work for you all? How long do you keep information? Do you keep any kind of backup records? Do you download from your online catalog? I don't look back often, but all this talk about replacing VHS collection with DVD makes me wonder if I should keep "provenance" for replacing them..... Anyone ? VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
