Jessica! You are absolutely right about Warner Archives titles, I stand
very much corrected. Many of the
Warner Archives titles have yet to turn up in WorldCat. Here at USC we
have purchased about 10
of their films, but it does not appear that too many other libraries are
acquiring them.
Incidentally, I just heard yesterday that Warner Archives will be
releasing next week--for the first time
on DVD--Ken Russell's *The Boy Friend.* Great news for those of us who
love every single (over-blown?)
moment of that particular film. Can a DVD release of Russell's *The
Devils* be far behind? Finally???
Cheers,
Anthony
PS Incidentally, not even IMDB indicates that a DVD version of *The
D.I.* is available.

Anthony,
99% of the time you would be right, but not in this case. The D.I is
one of the Warner Archive titles, in fact I remember someone that
worked there telling me it is one their all time bestsellers. I am
curious as to why this would not be in WorldCat. Does that mean not a
single library bought and catalogued it? I know a number of you
bought Warner Archive titles even when the only way they sold them was
direct ( I believe Amazon and maybe other places now have them)
Anyway it is up to you Norma if you want to buy a copy for your
patron, but in general I would strongly advice you to check out the
Warner Archive titles. It is a great collection and not available
through all the usual wholesalers.
They routinely have 25% off sales.

Alas, in my experience if a particular film cannot be found in
WorldCat it is often a very strong indication
that it has not be released in video--be it either in VHS or DVD.
The exception might be some
new DVDs released within the last few weeks or so. Certain
documentary films might also take time
to turn up in WorldCat.
Best,
Anthony

It is not in the World Catalog where I usually borrow from.
