And not that I have one (because I actually have two) but I would suggest the modified Oppo that plays all regions of BluRay *and* DVD (universal BluRay players aren't necessarily all-region for DVDs). It's a solid machine that is very impressive technically, especially the higher-end models. I have the lower-end BDP-83 model and that's still exceptional.
I'm still of the strong opinion that there are enough films that deserve to be shown on BluRay (Tree of Life, anybody?) that a college/university should have at least one system. Otherwise, it's like badly transferring beat-up 16mm prints to VHS and showing them to students who have mortgaged their future by taking out student loans to pay $50,000 a year tuition. Now, I'm in trouble! ;-) -- Best regards, Dennis Doros Milestone Film & Video/Milliarium Zero PO Box 128 Harrington Park, NJ 07640 Phone: 201-767-3117 Fax: 201-767-3035 email: [email protected] www.milestonefilms.com www.comebackafrica.com www.yougottomove.com www.ontheboweryfilm.com www.arayafilm.com www.exilesfilm.com www.wordisoutmovie.com www.killerofsheep.com <http://www.killerofsheep.com> AMIA Austin 2011: www.amianet.org Join "Milestone Film" on Facebook! VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
