Laura

It isn't really a question of one vs. the other, but one AND the other.

We subscribe to Films on Demand, and it has resulted in a decrease in the
need to purchase FMG titles.

But we still need to purchase quality titles from many other distributors
to meet the curricular needs of ASU.

Granted, as the largest land-grant university in the US our needs will be
different from yoursŠ But we have found the FoD collection to be an
incredible value, and enables us to meet many information needs for media
titles, freeing our collection development to focus on other areas/titles
not in the FoD collection.

And since we're talking streamingŠ. Don't forget to take (or complete) the

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
