We used to do double shelving - the cases were out on the shelves. For multi disc sets, each disc was in it's own pocket/sleeve, with the title and barcode on it, as well as the sequence of 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4 and 4 of 4, or however many discs were in the set. From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Widzinski, Lori Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2014 12:04 PM To: '[email protected]' Subject: [Videolib] multi-disc sets and open stacks For those of you out there with browsing collections where the discs are kept behind a circ desk and the cases are out for browsing: How do you handle check-out of multi-disc sets? Do you create generic cases (and barcode) for each individual DVD or CD in a set, or do you shelve the original packaging with one barcode for the entire set? If you break the set into separate cases, how do you handle the cover art/content information and labeling? Thanks. VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
