Hello again, Our library has been streaming faculty requests via ShareStream, (almost 700 in the fall of 2014) but we're changing our policy to ask that if students wish to stream films and they're available via Amazon or Netflix that they purchase their own streaming media. Of course the DVD will be available for checkout in the library for free. I'm curious if other libraries have this policy too and if so how patrons--including faculty--reacted when it was adopted. Has it been successful?

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition,bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
