Dear List: In Valderrabano’s fourth book (duets for two vihuelas) the title page reads:
“...ay guardas y haspiraciones, las quales se aguardaran como es uso en el canto de organs." Can anyone point me in the direction of period definitions of "guardas y haspiraciones"? While opinions and conjectures based on knowledge and experience are welcome, I am most interested in finding definitions from the extant primary source literature.
