Personally I want control over each of the different axis: I want distances in 
miles, but heights in metres. 
Think of the controls most GPS devices give the user.
 
The defaults could be set from LC_MEASUREMENT on first program run.
 
Secondly if one does use metric values, large distance values aren't handled to 
well. For example 1234.5 m isn't clear to me. I think the display should change 
to kilometers -> 1.2 km.  
NB heights should always stay in metres, not km.
 
Any work in this area is greatly appreciated.
