While adding few more tooltips I found that the old GTK+ tooltips API is deprecated.
Is it acceptable to upgrade to API that requires GTK+ >= 2.12.0 released in 2007? (Current viking requirement is GTK+ >= 2.8.0, but for example gimp-2.6 requires GTK+ >= 2.12.5.) In this particular case, it is easy to use the deprecated API to stay compatible with GTK+ < 2.12.0.
