Hello, it turned out that there is no problem with viking. I was just missing this property;
<property name="use-etag">TRUE</property> and together with the fact that I already had old low resolution tiles for for zoom level 20 (0.125 pixelfacts) they simply got not updated by the higher quality tiles that where made available later on the server.
