Here you can find the instructions for the vim-latex svn repository: https://sourceforge.net/scm/?type=svn&group_id=52322 There seems to be a fix in svn for your problem according to the log message: http://vim-latex.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/vim-latex?view=rev&revision=1013 I am not sure, whether an update is worth it for you, but some bugs have been fixed in svn, that were present in the latest tarball release.
