Hi, there's a bug with vim-latex, when setting g:mapleader to <space>. The compile and view commands etc. get bound to "ll", "lv", and so on instead of "<space>ll", "<space>lv", and so on. Needless to say this messes things up quite a bit. The attached patch fixes this problem.
