When you yank some text in vim, it puts it in a register which gets
cleared when you close vim. You can do one of two things: either open
both files in the same session of vim, e.g. with split windows or
tags, or prepend "* to your yanking command, so that vim puts the
yanked text in a register shared with the system clipboard. For more
