OK, thanks for the fix (for the future) and information. Currently I simply did ‘filetype plugin off’ and only enable it when I actually need some ftplugin (which is not that often as this setting no longer breaks reading compressed vim help files) but I am looking forward to the more fine-grained control with suppress_latex_suite.
