Doesn't Vim have a SourceForge page? Because SF is currently beta
testing Wikis [1]. Advantage here: We don't need to install anything.
We just have to wait for the beta to end.
I'd agree that a hosted solution is much nicer than one which some
community member must maintain, back up, upgrade, etc.
Unless there's a really compelling feature we can implement only with
custom code. Maybe a clever way to tie collaborative distributed editing
to current vim help (which is already a hypertext medium with <C-]>).
Just a daydream...
The problem with SourceForge is that their uptime is not good. Last
month the shell server was down for more than a week. That means I
could not change the web pages.
Google Code also has a wiki system in place. I can't vouch for their
uptime outside of the superficial observation that they are Google. Has
anyone experience with the wiki system included with a project hosted by
http://code.google.com?
Also, http://vimwiki.net/ looks very nice, though I cannot read any of
it. Perhaps there is an opportunity for collaboration there.
When using the SF wiki the tips still need to be converted, thus I don't
see an advantage in doing this on SF.
I was not around for the previous discussion on this topic and I haven't
sifted through the archives yet. Is the community consensus basically
pro-wiki but contentious on an implementation / hosting choice?
