Yes. This is to be expected. For every tab, Vim adds a new tab. Then there is one more tab, so for the next tab, Vim adds a new tab. Then there is one more tab, so ... I believe you want :tab sall (for all arguments in tabs) or :tab sball (for all buffers in tabs) Ben.
