And haven't you wished, that one time per year, that you had a "see diffs and recover" option? Some of us run into this more often than you do. I work on drivers and my machines often panic, hang, etc. vim already offers a "recover" option and imho there is nothing wrong with offering a "see diffs and recover" option.
