Nikolai's comments are just disgusting. only words like insane, god, Jesus.
Why would it be a problem of rewriting vim in c++? Why should one call sthg.
like that insane idea? Why would it be a problem to mention that? C++ has
failed so far as a language because most of C programmers never took any
effort to try to learn its powers, and people who wanted to learn an object
oriented language were taken by the flux and landed on java world.

why would you make comments like "Jesus" or "god" on ideas like different
datatype for view mode would be beneficial. Yes they would be if you are in
view mode you do not need your datatype to be ready for insertion, however
it would be faster to open, as splitting the file into any kind of linked
list or similar is time consuming! And you do not need a PHD to understand
that.

To be honest I did not participate in too many open source projects as I did
not have too much time. But I think anybody thinks the same, if he/she
spends time+energy in improving, he/she would like to see his changes
upstream for milions of reasons. If that never happens, probably not
everybody would go into infinit game of patches. One guy has ported for
example vim 6.0 to windows mobile, but for one or other reason his changes
were never integrated. If they would, I would not need to spend that much
time with that.

I am not begging for replies. Critics are welcome, but should be decent.

I know, but why "may not encourage". They do not want to have pain with
that? They do not want the tool to evolve?

Amazement can have different tonalities. And his one was rather sarcastic,
and that is of course not welcome. Why should he pollute the list by quoting
somebodies paragraph and add "Jesus", or "God" etc. That is really
disgusting.

Not you for sure... look back to Nikolais useless emails, and you will find
the sentenc.
