When 'pastetoggle' is non-empty, and it is used to set/reset the 'paste' option, the 'ruler' option is not set/reset immediately.
Behaviour when using :set paste 1) :set paste? -> nopaste 2) :set paste - the ruler info (bottom-right) immediately disappears. Behaviour when using pastetoggle (different) 1) :set paste? -> nopaste 2) :set pastetoggle=<f5> 3) <f5> - the ruler info (bottom-right) remains displayed until next update (via Ctrl-L or a cursor movement) This is somewhat confusing - at least to me, since I tend to use the presence/absence of the ruler info as a quick visual check of the current 'paste' setting.
