My vim GTK2-GNOME, running without gnome (KDE):
$ vim -?

--disable-crash-dialog Disable Crash Dialog

Press ENTER or type command to continue
Then starts GUI-less. IMO it's a bit of a mess, and trying to document it
accurately may not be feasible.
