I also believe GitHub is the correct decision since it's pretty much standard 
and is so because people love it. If the two alternatives are GitHub and 
BitBucket I see GitHub as an improvement and BitBucket as a continuation of 
what we have to today.

I've used a lot of plug-ins over the years and the only time I've ever been on 
BitBucket was for FuzzyFinder which is abandoned by its author.

BitBucket is a great alternative if you need private repositories for free but 
I guess that's not something vim is after.
