FWIW, IMO it's just a nuisance warning, and the slightly obsessive like me can
make it go away. Unless someone with gdk-pixbuf-2.0 2.31.0 pops up and says
using the GResource code works, we'd run the risk of breaking someone's build.

However, my local ubuntu archive mirror has packages only for 2.30.7, 2.31.3
and 2.32.[12] for ubuntu and debian. 2.30.7 comes with the long term support
release (supported till 2019) which does not give the deprecation warning. So,
in the debian world only 2.31.3 is widely used.
