Yeah, I applied it temporarily by means of the Mercurial mq (queue management) extension so I could pop it off the tree whenever I communicated with the remote repository. When I saw it in an official changeset I of course let it sleep for good. Different software, same results. (Mercurial I understand; with git the only things I can do is is "clone" and "pull", and even so, when not pulling often enough, I've had the case where the local couldn't talk with the remote because the latter had "collected" too much "garbage" in the meantime).
