That's true, bracketed paste should be available on most terminals today. xfree86.org did standardise it: http://www.xfree86.org/current/ctlseqs.html#Bracketed%20Paste%20Mode And there is a plugin: https://github.com/ConradIrwin/vim-bracketed-paste It works in an incredibly simpe way :) substitute(a:s, "\<Esc>", "\<Esc>\<Esc>", 'g') On the bad side it has a tmux wrapper, looking at it i *guess* it will fail on something like GNU screen.
