That's true, bracketed paste should be available on most terminals
today.  xfree86.org did standardise it:

And there is a plugin:

It works in an incredibly simpe way :)

    substitute(a:s, "\<Esc>", "\<Esc>\<Esc>", 'g')

On the bad side it has a tmux wrapper, looking at it i *guess* it will
fail on something like GNU screen.  But then again, GNU screen is
vulnerable to this kind of pasting by itself.
