When I open a directory from the command line, e.g.,
$ vim .
TermResponse autocommand events are ignored. I think this is due to
one or more of the places in netrw where
setl ei=all
is executed.
This can be demonstrated with the following tests. First with no
file:
$ vim -N -u NORC --cmd 'au TermResponse * let x=1'
:echo exists("x")
1
Then with a directory argument:
$ vim -N -u NORC --cmd 'au TermResponse * let x=1' .
:echo exists("x")
0
This is a problem when using TermResponse and v:termresponse to set
highlighting according to the terminal type. The TermResponse
autocommand is not triggered so highlighting is left at the default
values.
With "-u NORC", I'm using netrw v156; otherwise, I'm using netrw
v162h. Both inhibit TermResponse.
I'm running vim 8.0.225 in an xterm on Linux.
Regards,
Gary
