This intentional, you are not supposed to blindly paste raw commands. It's very easy to select the wrong text and have Vim do very unexpected things (hopefully undo works then). For the use case of jumping to a line, press ":" first, then paste and hit Enter. One more key stroke than pressing "G", oh well. -- hundred-and-one symptoms of being an internet addict: 3.
