Clarification: it's not that the cursor is completely invisible. It is similar to what Marius reported in that for my case this is what I see when opening :terminal: 1. I see new blank vim window with a non-blinking (that's my cursor blink preference) on the top left corner, it is waiting for the shell to start. 2. Once the shell prompt is displayed the cursor is gone. When I start typing sometimes I see the cursor flashes where it is supposed to be - more like once every few characters. After that it remains invisible. If I keep a key pressed (say, 'a'), the letter is repeated and I see the cursor flashing at the end of the newly inserted letter, and remains invisible after I release the key.
