More useful would be the parts of :version that include the type of build and the features included, that is, the lines after "Compiled by" and before "system vimrc file:". It might also be helpful to see the output of :scriptnames, to see what custom configuration scripts are being sourced. I'll have access to a system running Ubuntu 18.04 tomorrow and can have a look, but I haven't seen any odd behavior from it so far.
