If you toppost: - Don't quote. It doesn't make sense, since the reply is *before* the quoted text, and the conversation would be read unordered. In short: the quoted text won't be ever read. - If you quote, you will be breaking the normal reading order (top to bottom) and if anyone wants to follow the conversation, he will have to read the bottom part before. If two topposters are having a conversation the mess would be incredible. Namely, the message would have to be read from botton to top. Very unnatural. - You're not saving time. You're getting extra time for yourself by not quoting properly thanks to the extra time the readers will take to read your reply. That's not polite. - ¿You save time by not scrolling down? Well, that's you, because I want to read the original message if I wasn't following the conversation from the start, so I have to scroll down *and* scroll up again. - You will screwing non-top-posters if they want to reply to your topposted message, because they no longer can quote properly unless they do a lot of hard work edition (easier with Vim, but that's not the point). - You will be supporting humongous quoted texts. If everybody topposts, they leave the ENTIRE replied message quoted below their answer. This means that the conversation is harder to follow. If you want even more reasons to avoid topposting, Google about it. I think that weren't for crappy email clients like Outlook, no topposting would have happened ever.
