i don't see it in your vimrc, but it sounds as if something has
mapped backspace to a function 

i would perform a 

    :map

to examine all normal mode mappings, and a

    :map!

to examine the input mode mappings, looking for <BS> -- when and if
you find it, tell us to what it is mapped and perhaps we can help
