Hm, I just tried it, and

        ~/foobar [New File]

doesn't appear, but the following do:

        "~/foobar" 0L, 3C [New] written
        "~/foobar" 0L, 0C written
        "~/foobar" 0L, 0C
        "ru-fr.03.html" 2923L, 516224C written

etc. Note that the _first_ write has an additional [New] in it, and that 
reading is indicated by the _absence_ of the word "written".
