I've heard some interesting answers to my original question, but I'm still not sure if all these other programs (meld, kdiff3, etc.) are just front ends to the cmdline diffutils or separate diff programs. I'm generally happy with vim's diff support, but I was wondering if there is a more powerful backend that I should be using (not that I'm missing anything in particular right now.)
