Yes you can just copy the essential files from the official build and run it, but you would have to set the environment variables and such so that they would point to the correct folders on your "portable media". And if you answered Yes to the message to register OLE interface when first run on a PC which has no installation of Vim before, you would have modified the registry on the machine that you are running on. he gVim Portable was re-compile without OLE interface and include a launcher which conveniently sets up the environment variable to point to the relevant folders on the portable media and run from there. You can copy all your customised vimfiles and vimrc on it and use it from there on. Please give it a try and comment on the build is very much appreciated.
