Okay. Not trying to seem belligerent or anything, but, as I said, it actually does not work for me. You're explanation makes sense, but I've tried it several times. When I place the (.) before (ret), I get no replacements taking place at all. Im using vim 7.1 in a terminal on Ubuntu.
