I haven't seen any discussion of those "quirks" so I don't know what you
mean.

I use vim on my Mac mini.  It's one of the original PowerPC minis,
and it's running OS X 10.5 aka Leopard.  I haven't encountered any
"quirks" while using vim on it.  Everything works exactly as all
the documentation and advice here on the mailinglist says it should.
